Statement

Date: Feb. 7, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) issued the following statement on the Michigan Strategic Fund's approval to grant nearly $600,000 to renovate the historic White Horse Inn located in Metamora Village:

"The White Horse Inn, established well before the Civil War in 1850, is not only an embedded part of Metamora's rich culture, but a 164-year-old state treasure that has been enjoyed and revered by travelers and historians from across the country.

"Restoring this historic site will not only preserve it so that generations to come can learn about and appreciate its significance, but the development project will also create an estimated 40 jobs. I want to thank the Lapeer Development Corporation, especially its Director Pat Lucas, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, for their hard work and dedication to this important project."
